Street party in West Hill
On Saturday, the 4th, a programme of activities for children was planned to take place in the town centre. The safeguarding problems of photographing children meant that I left this part unrecorded.
On the Sunday, the 6th, the posters advertised "The Big Lunch" where not only were there food stalls in the town but the townsfolk were encourage to organise street parties.
Sunday's weather started wet but dried up later. I knew from the closure notices of several streets in my neighbourhood where parties had been planned. This meant dashing round with my camera to record as much of the fun as I could fit in. Fortunately for them, Victoria Road, which was nearest to my home, had chosen to have a party on Thursday when they were favoured with pleasant sunshine
I was able to concatenate the stills taken in Tilehouse Street, Grays Lane, West Hill and Victoria Road into a video sequence. I remembered that I had a recording of a Winifred Atwell rag called Jubilee Rag. It was recorded in 1952, so it's not obvious which jubilee it commemorated.

I had started the video with a list of the items I was going to include, so it seemed appropriate to finish with a similar recap on what had just been shown.
Having captured Alan Myatt proclaiming "God save the Queen" on Friday I thought made a suitable clip to end with.
