R13 View of the Control Room without the staff
R14 Looking the other way you can see the large map of the Central Division.
R15 Looking along the desks but towards the blank wall
R16 Looking along the desks but towards the windows
R17 The track schematic on No 4 desk. It covers Preston and Blackpool, North and Central.
R18 This picture appears to date back to wartime. A control office in an underground passageway.
There's no clue as to where it might be. It may have been included to show what conditions were like before the new office, in the other pictures, was opened.
R19 These are the control office supervisors that we saw standing in the first picture in the sequence.
They look a gloomy bunch.
R20. Here's one of the control desks with the lid open. The hand diving in from the left
is showing that the switch panels are plug connected making it possible to remove one for maintenance.
R21 A view across the supervisors' desks. the cord switchboard is visible in the background.
R22 Another desk with the lid open. Yes, I guess it's desk No 4 again.
The panel to right contains the diagram for Southport.
R23 A cable turning chamber. I'm not sure I'd want to work on the floor
above which appears to be held up with Acro props.
R24 An equipment rack with one cover removed to display the relay set.
Evidently there were two circuits to a can. The box on the far wall with jacks and cords is of unknown function.
R25 A neatly jumpered distribution frame. The boxes to the left appear to control various 24 volt supplies.
R26 The frame viewed from the other side. The power control boxes are now
in profile. The strip on the far wall appears to contain heat coils.
R27. The equipment rack viewed from the rear. The cable ladder racking can be seen on the far wall.
